Stair Climber – Wheelchair Stair Climbers Solve Some Applications
A stair climber is an alternative to a stair lift or elevator. A wheelchair stair climber assists an end user with a disability by taking a wheelchair from one floor to another. A stair climber machine is battery operated.
There are three limitations to a wheelchair stair climber:
1. The slope of your stairway must be 35% or less. This means that most residential stairways will not accommodate a stair climber since the common slope of most home stairs range between 40-45 degrees.
2. Most machine stair climber users find their use somewhat time consuming compared to an inclined wheelchair lift or an in home elevator.
3. A tilt wheelchair, geriatric or power chairs can not be used with a stair climber. Most common applications of a stair climber are in commercial situations such as a church, school or institution.
