A patient lift, lifts client in sling from bed or wheelchair by manual or power operation. A better alternative is a ceiling track lift which is mounted on a track that is either attached to the ceiling or is held by a self supportive track.
Key Questions
Weight and height of client using patient lift? Space available? Clearance under bed for product base? Will patient lift be used on thick carpet? Are care givers familiar with model operation? Does client have sensitive skin? Does sling need head support or commode feature?
Key Points
- If patient lift is going under a bed then clearance height is a key issue.
- If lift will be used for lifting a person up off the floor then the lowest boom height is an issue.
- If the person being lifted is tall then the boom range of patient lift is an issue.
- If you are planning to move the device then the overall weight is important.
- Turning radius and length of the product could be a key point if you are using the lift in a bathroom or putting the lift on a van lift.
